QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
LENGTH: 5CM
The seal is fashioned from an irregular jade pebble with a curved, slanted top.
The bottom of the pebble is carved in relief within an elliptical cartouche with
the four characters shizhang silun 世掌絲綸, which translates to ‘generations of
positions at court’.
The white jade is naturally formed and covered with traces of black specks and
russet and polished to an unctuous finish.
